Government budget performed in Armenia with amd 20.1 billion surplus in January

The 2011 January government budget was performed with AMD 20.1 billion surplus against AMD 26.7 billion projected deficit, the press office of the Armenian Finance Ministry reported on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, February 23. /ARKA/. The 2011 January government budget was performed with AMD 20.1 billion surplus against AMD 26.7 billion projected deficit, the press office of the Armenian Finance Ministry reported on Wednesday.
The surplus from domestic sources amounted to AMD 16.9 billion and that from external sources to AMD 3.3 billion.
Budget revenue grew 11.6% or by AMD 6 billion in January 2011, compared with the same month of the previous year, to AMD 57.1 billion.
According to the ministry’s figures, 92.9% of January’s revenue was formed from taxes, state duties and mandatory social payments, and 7.1% from other inflows.
Proceeds of state-owned establishments’ off-budget funds exceeded AMD 1 billion.
AMD 44.5 billion were raised as taxes and state duties in January, 31.9% of the quarterly projection.
Tax and customs receipts grew 10.7% or by AMD 4.3 billion in January 2011, compared with January 2010, thanks to permission to use radio frequencies as well as successful collection of excise, income and profit taxes.
Receipts from royalty made some contribution to this growth as well.
Budget spending amounted to AMD 36.9 billion in January - 17.7% of the quarterly plan.
The spending was cut by 4.4% or AMD 1.7 billion in Jan 2011, compared with Jan 2010.
According to the finance ministry’s report, current expenses totaled AMD 2.6 billion in January 2011 (18.4% of the quarterly plan).
They grew by 1.4% or AMD 476.8 million due to larger spending on pensions, benefits, wages etc.
Of current expenses, AMD 2.6 billion was allocated for paying salaries to public sector employees and AMD 51.2 million as mandatory social payments.
The mentioned expenses grew 24.4% and 86.1% respectively in January 2011, compared with Jan 2010.
The ministry says AMD 1.8 billion was spent on serving state debt (21.9% of the quarterly program).
Of this amount, AMD 1.4 billion was targeted for serving domestic debt and AMD 367.7 million for foreign debt.
The 2011 government budget was passed by Armenian National Assembly on December 9.
The budget spending may exceed AMD 1.001 trillion in 2011, revenue is planned to total AMD 852 billion and deficit is projected at AMD 148.6 billion.
GDP growth is projected at 4.6%.-0--
