Armenia and Latvia are determined to step up their economic ties, Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan said Wednesday in Riga during a joint news conference with his Latvian counterpart Valdis Zatlers.
YEREVAN, March 10, /ARKA/. Armenia and Latvia are determined to step up their economic ties, Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan said Wednesday in Riga during a joint news conference with his Latvian counterpart Valdis Zatlers.

‘In this context president Zatlers and me emphasize conduction of a regular Armenian-Latvian business forum. During our talks we expressed readiness to help promote contacts between our business communities and expand our bilateral trade and economic contacts,’ he was quoted as saying by his press office.

Serzh Sargsyan noted also that the financial-economic crisis has affected both countries and their trade relations slashed dramatically trade in 2009, but in 2010 there was a certain growth which he said did not reflect the real available potential.

‘I have no doubt that by joining our efforts we will overcome all the difficulties and make larger achievements than we had before the crisis,’ he said.

The two presidents singled out tourism, IT, agriculture as areas of promising cooperation, as well as inter-parliamentary ties and interaction between administrative units of both countries.

Sargsyan arrived in Latvia on March 9 for a to-day visit. -0-
