Armenia’s year-on-year economic activity index 106.3% in 1st Q 2011

Armenia’s year-on-year economic activity index was 106.3% in the first quarter of this year, the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia reported on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, March 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s year-on-year economic activity index was 106.3% in the first quarter of this year, the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia reported on Wednesday.

Compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, the 1st Q 2011 index was 128.3%.

It means output volumes and actual balance of demand are low now, especially in trade and construction sectors.

Only outlooks for industry remained unchanged.

The number of industrial enterprises’ employees and their salaries are expected to remain unchanged also in the second quarter.

Prices are expected to rise and industrial capacities grow in the coming quarter.

Difference between surveyed organizations and households’ negative and positive responses for construction, trade and services sectors grew a great deal.

Business environment index of the 1st Q 2011, compared with the 4th Q 2010, was negative in all the areas – 94.2%.

Business environment index increased only in services sector by 2.7% and as opposed to the first quarter of 2010 to a total of 96%.

Indices are figured out by averaging the difference between actual and expected responses.

Calculation of economic activity index is based on averaged method of respondents’ estimates and outlooks on industrial output.

Business environment index is figured out by averaging organizations’ estimates on changes of economic things and risks.

The Central Bank of Armenia started conducting its quarterly surveys in 2005.--0--
