YEREVAN, March 28. / ARKA /. The labor and social welfare ministry has developed a single information system that will be applied to streamline the use of data which are required for payment of old-age and retirement pensions, labor and social welfare minister Arthur Grigorian said today, adding that it will be introduced by a special government decision in April.

He said the new system will rule out intervention on part of an official in the process of solving any pension-payment relating issue. The single system will be operating in an online mode to register all information about deceased senior citizens received from registry offices. In his words, the single system will have information also about the movement of pensioners both within the country and their foreign trips.

‘In short, we are going to have reliable information about our pensioners- whether they are in the country, outside it or passed away,’ he said. The minister said if a pension is paid to a deceased pensioner the social security agency of the ministry, in charge of pensions and other social benefits, will have to report the case immediately to law-enforcement agencies.

The minister said the government is expected to pass a decision that will have a retroactive force for all related problems emerged after January , 2011.

Armenia’s parliament Audit Chamber said in a latest report submitted to the National Assembly that an inspection conducted by its officers revealed many cases of paying pensions to dead people. The inspection was conducted in 14 out of 51 territorial departments of the state social insurance service. According to the findings pensions were paid to 58,921 deceased peoples in 2008,2009 and 2010. Double payment of pensions, prolongation of labor record are among the widespread breaches. -0-
