Ex-head of CB Armenia: agriculture develops ineffectively in Armenia
YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/. Agriculture develops ineffectively in Armenia which is not connected with funding terms, ex-head of CB Armenia Bagrat Asatryan considers.
“The reasons for agricultural problems are not credits and percent rates in Armenia but ineffectiveness of the sector”, said Asatryan in the press-conference on Wednesday.
This sphere is very risky and financial organizations should be first of all concerned with the problem of money return, the level of which is the lowest in agriculture.
“Today the banking system of Armenia is not ready to work with the village. It is a reality and law-makers should pay attention to this problem”, he said.
Today productivity in agriculture is rather low. Taking into account that one-third and the half of able-bodied population lives in villages, the entities working in agriculture produce only $3 thousand (data of 2010).
Speaking about the factors influencing the productivity of agriculture, Asatryan mentioned the reduction of useful land plots.
“For example, in 2010 versus 2009 sowing territories of cereals and leguminous plants reduced by 8%, potato – 13-14% and vegetables – 12% in Armenia. 10% growth of sowing territories of berry plants and grapes was registered”, he said. --0--
