YEREVAN, April 11. /ARKA/. Working group on gas supply issues will be established in the parliament committee on economic issues instead of establishment of temporary parliament commission, said the head of parliament faction “Dashnaktsutyun” Vahan Hovhannissyan in the parliament meeting on Monday.

Last week by the initiative of MPs of the faction “Dashnaktsutyun” the parliament discussed the issue of the establishment of temporary parliament committee for the study of the gas supply system. It was planned that the committee should study the mechanisms of gas price formation in Armenia and suggest price reduction mechanisms. The issue of establishment of temporary commission should have been submitted for voting on April 11.

A decision was adopted for the establishment of working group within the operating standing committee of the parliament which will deal with finding solution on this issue. Hovhanissyan suggested to take out the issue of the establishment of temporary commission from the agenda.

He suggested the candidacy of any “Dashnaktsutyun” member for heading the working group.

“Dashnaktsutyun” considers groundless that Armenia is buying gas by $180 per thousand cubic meters and selling it depending on the variations of currency rate - $340-360 per thousand cubic meters.

Armenia and Russia have certain agreements on changing gas prices in a certain period of time. According to the agreement on the delivery of Russian gas to Armenia, gas price for Armenia on the border was $154 for 1 thousand cubic meters including VAT from April 1, 2009 instead of earlier $110. From April 1, 2010 gas price on the border is $180 instead of earlier envisaged $200 for 1 thousand cubic meters

By the decision of Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) tariff for one cubic meter consumed gas increased by 37.5% to 132 drams (0.34 dollars) versus existing 96 drams (0.25 dollars). For enterprises using over 10 thousand cubic meters monthly, the tariff increased by 13% to 243.13 dollars for each thousand cubic meters of consumed gas instead of earlier 215 dollars. --0--
