Over 2.1 Thousand Apartments Will Be Handed Over In Earthquake Zone In 2011 In Armenia

In 2011, 2131 apartments will be handed over in earthquake zone which suffered from the destructive earthquake of 1988, said Armenian Minister of Urban Construction Vardan Vardanyan
YEREVAN, May 18. /ARKA/. In 2011, 2131 apartments will be handed over in earthquake zone which suffered from the destructive earthquake of 1988, said Armenian Minister of Urban Construction Vardan Vardanyan in the parliament hearings on the performance of state budget 2010.

He said that 2010, 1579 apartments were handed over, of which 1056 – in Gyumri.

In 2010, state budget allocated 467 million drams for the provision of apartments to families suffered from the earthquake, 14 apartments were repaired in Stepanavan and 15 – in Maralik.

According to the program of solving the program of people suffered from earthquake in Lori region, in 2011-2012 it is planned to build 1055 apartments, the main part of which is in 14 rural areas and in the city Spitak.

On December 7 , 1988 destructive earthquake took place in Armenia which ruined two cities of Armenia – Spitak and Leninakan (current Gyumri) and more than hundred villages. Some other cities were ruined partially. According to official data, that day 25 thousand people died, 140 thousand became invalids and half a million remained homeless. –0—
