YEREVAN, May 26. / ARKA /.President Serzh Sargsyan said today Armenian economy with its pace of development has an opportunity to progress and join leading nations of the world despite adverse external economic impulses, closed borders, geopolitical, social and infrastructural problems.
Speaking at the 4-th congress of the Armenian Commerce and Industry Chamber, the president said the steady and continuous double-digit rate of economic growth registered in the past decade is the best evidence that the country has been pursuing a consistent economic policy, has a clear goal of economic growth and may reach unprecedented heights.
He stressed that Armenia exited from the latest global economic crisis with minimal social consequences.
According to Sargsyan, today the country is facing new challenges and there is a clear objective to restore the lost time and increase the pace of development.
"Changes in tax and customs administration, their gradual transition to a fundamentally new style of work, willingness to exempt innovative production from taxes and the launch of the process to create free economic zones - all of this and new initiatives pave the way for all of us to change business sentiments in our country," he said. -0-
