YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. Prices for fruits and vegetables are expected to go down in June, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan told journalists on Friday.

He said that the government is taking taking necessary measures to drive prices for agricultural products down.

“Importers of agricultural machinery, fertilizers and pesticides will be exempted from VAT, and this will impact on prices for agricultural products,” he said.

The minister said that weather is more or less good this year, and this year can be viewed normal for agriculture. Speaking about reforms in the agriculture sector, Karapetyan said that results of these reforms can visible later.

“I’m not so happy about pace of the reformation, but the process is moving forward though slowly,” the minister said. “I think we’ll finish this year with good indicators,” he added without making any particular forecast.

Armenian authorities expect at least 10% growth in agriculture in 2011 after an unprecedented 13.5% fall in 2010. -0-
