YEREVAN, July 8. /ARKA/. Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan invited Russian companies to participate in the tender for the construction of the highway “North-South”, informs RIA Novosti.
On January 14, 2010, Government of Armenia approved the investment program of construction of the road “North-South” and framework agreement with Asian Development Bank in the total amount of 500 million dollars for the construction of the corridor “North-South” signed on September 15, 2009.
Sargsyan said that Armenia plans to build an express line in accordance with international standards.
"It will be a new large construction with international and open tender. The first tender will be 180 million dollars”, he said. "We invite our Russian colleagues to participate in the tender”, said Sargsyan in Rostov-on-Don on Friday during the 13th meeting of inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation between Russia and Armenia.
Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin said that Russia closely cooperates with Armenia in the sphere logistics of transportation. "Armenia has a problem in this aspect and Russia, particularly our ministry, deals with the alignment of chains of cargo delivery to and from Armenia”, he said.
Levitin reminded that Russian Railways won a tender on concession of Armenian railways some years ago. "We exchanged opinions that in some years we managed to normalize the state of Armenian railways and improve the quality of rolling stock”, he said. -0-
