YEREVAN, July 11. /ARKA/. The Armavir machine tool plant is planned to start producing mini tractors called Armavir-2011.

Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan visited the plant to see a pilot sample of this tractor.

Lorik Avdalyan, technical director of the plant, demonstrating this sample, told journalists that the tractor spends 300 gram of petrol per hour.

He said that the tractor’s length is one meter. Such vehicles are intended for small fields and greenhouses.
“Its minimal speed is 2.83 kilometer/hour and maximal is 17.3 kilometer/hours,” Avdalyan said.

“The tractor can move back at 4 km/hour to 12 km/hour speed.”

Minister Davtyan, on his side, expressed confidence that the new tractor would attract domestic farmers’ attention.

“I think the plant has chosen a right direction, and the government will support its development,” he said.
He also said that there are some problems, which have to be solved before completion of the development stage.

“First of all, the tractor should reach the proper technical level,” the minister said. “I would advise to take future purchasers’ opinions into account.”

The Armavir machine tool plant was established in 1930. In the Soviet epoch, the plant produced various machines. In 1995 it was privatized. The plant exported its products to Iran and CIS countries.

Now the plant produces only molded pieces and iron balls for mining plants because of low demand for machinery.

According to official figures, the plant’s output over the period between early June 2010 and early June 2011 totaled AMD 31.6 million – 67% year-on-year growth. Some 24 people work at the plant.--0---
