Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission will revise prices for technical service of household gas-supplying systems before the end of this year, Abgar Budaghyan, chief of the agency that regulates investment programs and monitors the commission’s activity, said on Friday.
He told journalists that the necessity to revise prices has been prompted by gas consumers’ displeasure over too expensive but improper service.
Budaghyan said that it will be decided to raise or lower technical services prices, depending on the results of the study.
Ashot Hovsepyan, director of AEG Service, the company serving household gas systems, on his side, said the price revision can result only in increase, since this price was set yet in 2005.
“Inflation has gone up, employers’ salaries have been raised and prices for equipment jumped since then,” he said. That is why Hovsepyan is convinced that the service prices will be increased.
On November, 2005, responsibility for serving households’ gas systems was laid on ArmRosgasprom CJSC, sole natural gas supplier in Armenia. In 2007, AEG Service independent company was established. The latter started providing technical service to households’ gas systems under the agreement signed with the ArmRosgasprom. Now the company is monopolist in this area.
Service prices were set by Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission in 2005.
Annual service price for consumers having one gas devise was set at 2,400 drams, for those consumers who have two gas devices 5,700 drams and three and more 6,900 drams.
Technical service is carried out twice in every year. ($1 = AMD 366.46).-0---
