The Armenian ministry of labour and social security has saved about 7.4 billion drams in the first half of 2011 after cutting the lists of people eligible to old-age and retirement pensions and poverty benefits.
YEREVAN, July 25. / ARKA /. The Armenian ministry of labour and social security has  saved about 7.4 billion drams  in the first half of 2011 after cutting the lists of people eligible to old-age  and retirement pensions and poverty benefits.

Speaking to journalists labor and social security minister Artur Grigorian said a total of 4 billion drams were economized after a set of thorough inspections at regional departments in charge of calculating and delivering pensions.

He said some of the economized funds were pensions not received by senior Armenian citizens absent from the country for 12 and more months and by deceased people  who still  remained on the lists until latest inspections.

The minister said  another 2.7 billion drams were saved after hundreds of families were withdrawn from the lists of families eligible to poverty benefits and 700 million drams were economized as unemployment allowances.

As a result of recent inspections by the ministry, the list of seniors eligible to pensions contracted  by 6 thousand people and, according to the latest data, there are now 514 thousand official pensioners. ($ 1 - 366.33 AMD). -0-
