Armenia and KfW have signed today an agreement whereby KfW will finance expertise research in the management of municipal solid waste in the city of Vanadzor
YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. Armenia and the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW) have signed today an agreement whereby KfW will finance expertise research in the management of municipal solid waste in the city of Vanadzor and surrounding communities, the press service of the Armenian ministry of finance said. Under the agreement, KfW will provide Armenia with Euro 650 thousand.
The agreement was signed after the meeting between Armenian minister of finance Vache Gabrielian and a German delegation headed by state secretary Jorg Asmussen. The delegation included a KfW Governing Council member Norbert Klopenberg, vice president Eve Witt, German Ambassador to Armenia, Hans-Jochen Schmidt and others.
The document was signed by Vache Gabrielian, first deputy minister of territorial administration of Armenia Vache Terteryan, vice president of the KfW Eva Witt and Norbert Klopenberg.
The study will be carried out to assess the quality of garbage disposal services in these communities and a list of measures will be presented how to improve them. It is supposed also to clarify measures to close the existing landfill and construct a new one in line with EU standards, as well as recycling possibilities and the cost of the work. The expert study will take approximately 10 months.
The sides also discussed issues concerning the progress on joint programs in the framework of the Armenian-German financial cooperation. –0—
