YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. Over AMD 469.26 million was voluntarily returned to the government budget in Jan-June 2011 thanks to Armenian Prosecutor Office’s efforts, Deputy Prosecutor General Aram Tamazyan said Friday at a session presided by Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan.

“Another 38.9 million was returned to the budget as a result of court trials,” he said.

Some 288 offences threatening state interests were found out in Jan-June, 57 criminal cases were opened and 134 suits filed to seize AMD 789.9 million.

Some 67 suits for a total amount of AMD 406.4 million were won, and four suits lost.

Fourteen cases were dropped, and investigations into other cases are still under way.

In his speech Tamazyan singled out Gegharkunik, Lori and Kotayk provinces’ prosecutor offices for their successful job.

Gegharkunik’s prosecutor office won 17 suits for AMD 7.6 million, Lori’s 12 suits for AMD 24.8 million and Kotayk’s four suits for AMD 23.9 million.

Results of other provincial prosecutor offices were not so impressive. ($1 = AMD 366.38). --0---
