YEREVAN, August 26. / ARKA /. Armenian economy minister Tigran Davtian met today with chief executives of local instrument-making and machine building enterprises to present a blueprint strategic policy designed for export-oriented industries.
The meeting was held at Almast plant in Yerevan that produces synthetic diamond powder, glass and hard metals working tools, as well as tools for cutting, grinding and polishing stones.
During the meeting top managers presented the challenges faced by the sector and their enterprises.
"This year we are paying special attention to enterprises engaged in production of export goods, and many of these companies have received financial support from the government," the minister said.
According to him, the new strategy includes two important components - private and public sectors cooperation and joint development of an export process.
"I know that the question of exports is very problematic for our businesses, and therefore I propose that we should create a special group that will collaborate with public and private sectors and represent your products in other countries and help find new markets," said the minister.
Chief manager of Armenmotor company, Karlos Petrosian, said effective marketing was his and his colleagues’ main problem, ‘and to solve this problem we need the help of the government.’
According to chief executives, the government must take drastic measures to create favorable customs regime for locally manufactured products. The minister promised to take into account all the suggestions and proposals made during the meeting and develop the final strategy for further action. -0-
