YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Volume of production of Yerevan foil production plant ARMENAL which together with the companies SAYANAL “Ural foil” and “Sayana foil” forms RUSAL’s Packaging Division, in the first half of 2011 amounted to 13 110 tons of product which is by 8.2% more than in the same period of the last year, press-service of the plant informed to “ARKA”.

Export volume for the reporting period amounted to 12 602 tons which exceeds the indicator of 
January-June 2010 by 4%. According to the Customs Service of State Revenue Committee of Armenia, export growth of ARMENAL in money terms for the dame period was 19.0% to 45.1 million dollars.

The press service also reported RUSAL’s forecast about the situation in this sphere in 2011.

According to RUSAL, pre-conditions for the increase of demand for aluminum are maintained – there is increasing use of aluminum in various spheres. Moreover, support prices have increased the cost of key aluminum production, including raw materials (alumina and pitch), energy carriers (coal and oil) and labor costs. 

Locomotive of growth of demand for aluminum remains car industry. It is expected that the demand for aluminum from aircraft industry, manufacturers of electronics and packaging industry will remain high.

According to the forecast, demand for aluminum in 2011 will increase by 13% making 46 million tons. Key regions providing this growth will become fast-growing economies such as China, Brazil, India and Russia. Recovery of aluminum demand is expected in Japan in the forth quarter of 2011 due to car industry and construction sector.

RUSAL forecasts that growth in aluminum production in 2011 will be 9% reaching to 46 million tons. The greatest increase in production is expected in China and Middle East.
