Armenia has 15 technical commissions in the sphere of standardization

There are 15 technical commissions in Armenia which conduct large-scale activities in the introduction of international standards providing free movement of domestic products and services in external markets, said Director of National Institute of Standar
YEREVAN, October 14. /ARKA/. There are 15 technical commissions in Armenia which conduct large-scale activities in the introduction of international standards providing free movement of domestic products and services in external markets, said Director of National Institute of Standards (NIS) of Armenia Yenok Azaryan.

NIS participates in the activities of 35 technical commissions of International Standardization Organization (ISO) jointly developing international standards.

He clarified that there are also private organizations in the country which are interested in the real approval of correspondence of standards.

“Problems occur in case when entrepreneurs do not follow the rules of correspondence of standards and in export of products to any country after passing appropriate examination, the goods are not allowed to the markets”, he said.

Speaking about the import of goods to Armenia, Director of NIS said that problems occur regarding some goods imported from Turkey, particularly products for women and food products which do not pass relevant procedure of standardization in the country and may pose a risk to health.

National Institute of Standards (NIS) cjsc is the member of ISO Board in the period 2011-2012 along with the structures of standardization of France, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, China, Russia, Korea, Canada, Norway, Italy, Malaysia, Iceland, Kazakhstan and Malta. NIS joined ISO in 1997 and since 2008 is a member-partner. --0--
