Armenian parliament to convene for extraordinary session to vote on package of tax changes

The Armenian government has asked today the National Assembly to convene November 28 for an extraordinary session to consider and vote on a package of government-designed changes to a set of laws designed primarily to help increase substantially revenues
YEREVAN, November 24. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has asked today the National Assembly to convene November 28 for an extraordinary session to consider and vote on a package of government-designed changes to a set of laws designed primarily to help increase substantially revenues next year.

Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielian told the Cabinet today that the final debate and vote on the package should be preceded by approval of the state budget for 2012. The minister said the agenda of the extraordinary session includes also ratification of an $18 million loan agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on additional funding for rapid restoration of irrigation systems.

Among the bills included in the package are amendments to the laws on taxes, excise tax, on VAT, income tax, obligatory social security payments, use of cash registers,, state duties.

Besides, the parliament will discuss also amendments to the laws on banks and banking activity, protection of internal market, bankruptcy and other.

The package also includes amendments to Customs Code, Criminal Code, Administrative Code, Civil Code and Labor Code.  -0-
