Agricultural Alliance To Be Established In Armenia

Local and international organizations operating in agriculture development sector in Armenia plan to establish agricultural alliance, press-service of the Armenian office of British organization Oxfam informed ARKA News Agency.
YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. Local and international organizations operating in agriculture development sector in Armenia plan to establish agricultural alliance, press-service of the Armenian office of British organization Oxfam informed ARKA News Agency.
“Taking into account the necessity of increase of efficiency using agricultural resources of the country, improvement of conditions of economic entities, lack of professional knowledge in agrarian sphere, as well as dissemination of information regarding the sphere and its exchange, local and international organizations operating in agriculture development sector in Armenia plan to establish agricultural alliance”, states the press-release.
The goal of the alliance is to support the solution of the above mentioned problems through joint outreach companies, information and experience exchange regarding the implemented problems.
On December 6 at 12.00 in the hall “Picasso” of “Congress” hotel local and international organizations operating in agriculture development sector in Armenia will sign a Memorandum of Understanding which will outline the necessity of introduction of larger financial resources for the promotion of production of local agricultural products, as well as mention the priority of establishment of favorable conditions for the activity of agricultural cooperatives.
The document will be signed by representatives of the Armenian office of British organization Oxfam, UNDP Armenian office, Fund “Center of village and agribusiness development”, “United Methodist Committee on Relief” (UMCOR), Center of business support “BSC”, ACDI/VOCA (Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance), Scientific Center of vegetables and technical plants of the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture, UN Food and Technical Plant Program, Fund “Horizon”, organizations VISTAA Plus, children’s charity fund “C.O.A.F.”, “Protection of consumers’ rights” NGO and the Fund “International center of studies of agribusiness and education”.
“The newly established agricultural alliance as a pre-condition for equal development of the country will note the necessity of increase of accessibility of new technologies, integration of border area communities into free economic zones, as well as introduction of insurance system with the aim of reducing the risks of nature disasters”, states the press-release.
Moreover, taking into account incompleteness of seed-growing and cattle-breeding in Armenia, as well as the necessity of establishment of effective mechanisms and improvement of the existing ones, the Alliance will emphasize the importance of providing credits to the main part of the farms and provision of accessible leasing terms by the existing financial system.
The Alliance will be open for cooperation and all interested parties dealing with the issues of development of agricultural sphere of Armenia can join it. --0--
