Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia on Wednesday adopted a decision on the reduction of price of electronic electricity meters, said the head of department of investment programs and monitoring of PSRC licensed activity Abgar Budaghyan.
YEREVAN, December 7. /ARKA/. Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia on Wednesday adopted a decision on the reduction of price of electronic electricity meters, said the head of department of investment programs and monitoring of PSRC licensed activity Abgar Budaghyan.

He said that now instead of former 20 thousand drams the meters will cost 10 thousand drams for the citizens, and for the commercial consumers it reduced from 120 thousand to 50 thousand drams.

The sale of electricity meters in the country is implemented only by the company “Electrical networks of Armenia ” (the company has electrical networks of medium and low voltage).

“Statistics have shown that over time more and more people are changing the old induction electricity meters into new electronic ones. By installation of two-rate meters, at night the cost of the used electricity is calculated by discount which is beneficial for many people”, said Budaghyan.

In Armenia the tariff for electricity of population is 30 drams per 1 kilowatt/h in daytime (from 7.00 to 23.00) and 20 drams – at night.

“As in the past, payment for the cost of two-rate meters starts in a year after its installation”, he said. PSRC decision will enter into force from April 1, 2012. ($1 – 383.24 drams).– 0 -
