Salex Group is fined AMD 1 million by State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia for unfair competition at vodka market. According by a complaint the design of bottles of the vodka made by Salex group is identical to Image Holding’
YEREVAN, August 22. /ARKA/. Salex Group is fined AMD 1 million by State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia for unfair competition at vodka market.
Vahan Ispoyan, a spokesman of the commission, said the inspection was prompted by a complaint submitted by Ukrainian Ambassador Alexander Bozhko and Ukrainian Image Holding, who are convinced that the design of bottles of the vodka made by Salex group is identical to Image Holding’s Khortitsa.
In addition, unlike Salex Group’s vodka, Khortitsa’s trademark is registered by Armenian Intellectual Property Agency.
Ispoyan said that the inspection also found out similarity to Moscow Kristall’s products.
In particular, Salex Group’s Moskovskaya, Staraya Stolitsa and Gzhilka vodkas are similar to Kristall’s same brands.
It means Salex Group has violated the economic competition law on four products.
Earlier, on May 23, 2007, Salex Group was fines AMD 500thnd for unfair competition. This time, the company will have to pay AMD 1 million.
Besides, Salex group ought to stop producing and selling these brands. ($1 – AMD 336.93). M.V.-0---
