Armenia succeeded in improving legislation on plant protection in the last 2-3 years, Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture David Lokian told journalists Tuesday.
YEREVAN, October 9. /ARKA/. Armenia succeeded in improving legislation on plant protection in the last 2-3 years, Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture David Lokian told journalists Tuesday.

The country adopted appropriate procedures of marking, examination, international forms of certificates giving opportunity to export phytogenic food stuffs even to European countries, the Minister said.

He pointed out that the conference of the Coordination Council on Quarantine of the countries members of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dstarted today in Yerevan will allow harmonizing phytosanitary regulations of different countries.

Lokian also stressed the necessity to set uniform durations and forms of phytosanitary certificate, terms of validity of an examination and other documentary issues.

According to the Minister, Armenia has taken an important step in quarantine protection of plants and currently brings its imports of plants and phytogenic products in compliance with the international convention and the standards of phytosanitary measures of the European Union.

The 14th conference of CIS Coordination Council on Quarantine and a seminar of European and Mediterranean organization on quarantine and plant protection for East European and Russian-speaking countries are held in Yerevan on October 9-11. N.V. –0--
