Russian railways, Indian rites company prequilified for tender for concession of Armenian railways

The Russian Railways Company and the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) have been prequalified for a tender for concession of the Armenian Railways, said Tamara Galechyan, Press Secretary of the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication.
YEREVAN, October 15. /ARKA/. The Russian Railways Company and the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) have been prequalified for a tender for concession of the Armenian Railways, said Tamara Galechyan, Press Secretary of the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication.
Director of the office for transport programs, RA Ministry of Transport and Communication, Alexander Bakhtamyan reported that the prequalified companies are to make their tenders before December 21.
The tenders are to be estimated by January 15, 2008, Bakhtamyan said.
Under the RA Government’s decision of January 15, 2008, the Armenian Railways Company is to be transferred to 30-year concession management, with the right to 20-year prolongation.
The concessionaire is to make $170mln investments in the repair and purchase of 1,200 cars and locomotives within ten years
The Armenian Railways Company is fully owned by the RA Government. P.T. –0--
