Armenia to allocate nearly $1m to ensure ‘freedom and independence of broadcast media in 2025

YEREVAN, 29 October. /ARKA/. The draft budget for 2025 has earmarked AMD 375.9 million (almost $970,000) to ensure freedom, independence and diversity of broadcast media in Armenia, member of the National Commission on Television and Radio Gohar Mamikonyan said.

‘The mentioned amount is envisaged to be allocated to the Commission, taking into account also the expenses for maintenance of the management staff,’ Mamikonyan said, speaking at the budget discussions in the parliament.

According to her, the allocated amount will be directed to the implementation of a programme designed to regulate the audiovisual media.

'The programme is aimed at ensuring freedom, independence and diversity of broadcast media in Armenia, control and regulation in the audiovisual sphere,’ Mamikonyan said. -0-
