A train carrying Russian grain will soon arrive in Armenia, the first time it is being delivered through Azerbaijan, announced RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. A train carrying Russian grain will soon arrive in Armenia, the first time it is being delivered through Azerbaijan, announced RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
"At the moment, the train carrying grain from Russia to Armenia is already passing through Azerbaijan, heading towards Georgia," Grigoryan told the Armenpress news agency.
Grigoryan praised the work done by his Azerbaijani and Russian colleagues in this direction. "This event is of great importance for strengthening mutual trust and advancing the peace agenda," the RA Deputy Prime Minister said.
On October 21, it was announced that the President of Azerbaijan lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia through his territory. The first shipment of goods delivered in this manner was wheat from Kazakhstan.
Yerevan welcomed the Azerbaijani leader's statement, emphasizing its importance for opening regional communications, strengthening mutual trust, and institutionalizing the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
