YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. Grape purchases have already totaled about 164,000 tons in Armenia this year, minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said at a government hour in the parliament on Wednesday.

Vine-growing is one of the most profitable and promising fields in agriculture, the minister said.

Grape is bought at 230 drams per kilo today, he added.

According to earlier reports, grape production was expected to remain unchanged from the last year and to total about 240,000-242,000 tons.

Yet, the minister said in the parliament on Wednesday, the expected levels may be exceeded. –0--
