An agriculture development fund will be established in Armenia on the basis of the office for the implementation of agricultural projects.
YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. An agriculture development fund will be established in Armenia on the basis of the office for the implementation of agricultural projects. A decision to that end was made today by the government.
According to agriculture minister Ignaty Arakelyan, one of the major functions of the fund will be to help coordinate the implementation of all agricultural programs financed from various sources.
"The fund will improve the quality and the range of services provided to the agricultural sector, coordinate the activities of donor programs, develop productive agriculture and ensure the best possible allocation of resources," Arakelyan said.
According to him, the main goal of this decision is to promote stable and competitive development of agriculture.
Prime minister Karen Karapetyan added that the main goal is not only to ensure stable and competitive, but also modern development of the sector. "We must fundamentally change the technologies used in this field in Armenia," Karapetyan said.
According to the National Statistical Service, the gross agricultural output in 2016 decreased by 5.2% from the year earlier to 907.5 billion drams. ($ 1 - 486.46 drams). -0-
