Ameriabank partners two-day international economic conference in Armenia

A two-day international economic conference on modeling effective economic and political development started today in Kamar Business Center in Yerevan, Ameriabank, a partner of the conference, said in a press release.

YEREVAN, April 1. /ARKA/. A two-day international economic conference on modeling effective economic and political development started today in Kamar Business Center in Yerevan, Ameriabank, a partner of the conference, said in a press release. 

It said the purpose of the conference is to explore the prospects for steady and effective economic development through the prism of politics, economics and innovation.

Welcoming remarks at the official start of the conference were made by the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Piotr Switalski, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan, Director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) Alexander Yesayan and Eva Neher, Head of the EU-SMEDA (Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Armenia) Program. 

The event was attended by Atom Janjughazyan, Minister of Finance of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, Minister of Economic Development and Investments, as well as by representatives of the government, international organizations, experts and other guests.

The conference is co-chaired by David Sahakyan, a leading researcher at the Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory and Thomas Lux, Professor of Economics at the University of Kiel, Germany.  Thomas Lux is also an adviser to the German government and is known for accurate economic forecasts.

Based on the outcome of the two-day conference, well-known experts will discuss the effective ways of economic development using the example of Armenia, and then present a relevant program to the government.

The list of key speakers includes the number one financial risk expert Didier Sornette from Switzerland. Also, a physicist from Boston, Yaneer Bar -Yam, will join the conference by video. Yaneer Bar-Yam is known for modeling economic policies  for Wall Street and the White House.

The conference has brought together representatives of universities, researchers and experts from Armenia, Russia, Iran, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, China and the United States.

The conference is being held by the Artem Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory with the assistance of the Government of Armenia, the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises and EU-SMEDA.
