Armenia Appreciates US Support in Improving Border Customs Control

Armenia appreciates the support from its American partners in enhancing its border customs control infrastructure and building the skills of customs officers, stated Eduard Hakobyan, the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, during a meeting with Kern Chasney, Regional Advisor for the U.S. Department of State's Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program, and Zachary Barter, Director of the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Cooperation (INL) at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

YEREVAN, December 8. /ARКА/. Armenia appreciates the support from its American partners in enhancing its border customs control infrastructure and building the skills of customs officers, stated Eduard Hakobyan, the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, during a meeting with Kern Chasney, Regional Advisor for the U.S. Department of State's Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program, and Zachary Barter, Director of the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Cooperation (INL) at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

The participants reviewed the advancements of the U.S. assistance program aimed at boosting the efficiency of customs risk management, which is crucial for refining the customs risk management system, particularly in terms of improving analytical capabilities.

Hakobyan also highlighted the collaboration with the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Cooperation, stressing the significance of supplying new equipment and organizing training sessions for customs officers to effectively tackle smuggling.

The involved parties conveyed their willingness to uphold the agreements made and to broaden cooperation in the near future, taking into account new regional initiatives.-0-
