YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved a program to promote the development of crop production for 2025, the cost of which will be approximately 1.5 billion drams.

Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said that the program is aimed at increasing the level of food security, developing agriculture, and increasing the area under crops by 36 thousand hectares.

"A similar program was implemented in 2022, and in 2024 - only for spring sowing. The current program is envisaged for both spring and winter sowing. The 2025 program plans to compensate 50% of the costs of sowing areas up to 100 hectares cultivated for grain (wheat, oats, corn, barley, oats), cereals (peas, beans, lentils, chickpeas) and forage crops (alfalfa, corn, fodder beet), - Papoyan noted.

The amount of state assistance has been determined - from 80 to 100 thousand drams per 1 hectare (depending on the crop).

The head of the Ministry of Economy also said that the program is planned to be implemented through administrations and communities. Moreover, according to him, it is planned to allocate about 1.4 billion drams for a similar program in 2026. ($ 1 - 391.80 drams).
