Armenia plans to begin exporting up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables per week to the UAE starting in September.
YEREVAN, August 27. /ARKA/. Armenia plans to begin exporting up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables per week to the UAE starting in September. The parties signed a corresponding Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and the founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem, Omar Mohammad Hamdan Abdullah Alshamsi, discussed the possibility of implementing joint investment projects, expanding the export of Armenian products, and establishing contacts between Armenian producers and buyers and distributors in the UAE and other international markets.
Alshamsi presented the activities of Watermelon Ecosystem, which connects restaurants, food suppliers, producers, and farmers and offers digital solutions for procurement and supply chain management. Papoyan presented the investments made in Armenia's agricultural sector in recent years, as well as production capacities that meet international standards, emphasizing the importance of expanding access of small and medium-sized producers to international markets.
