YEREVAN, November 10. /ARKA/. Work is underway in Armenia to regulate the legal framework for the implementation of energy storage stations, which will lead to the development of renewable energy resources in the country. This was stated by Hovhannes Abrahamyan, Head of the Regional Energy Markets Department of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
"In 2021, the Armenian government adopted a strategic program for the development of the energy sector until 2040. Key priorities and actions for system development were consolidated and outlined. One of the development priorities is the maximum use of renewable energy," he said at a press conference on Monday.
According to Abrahamyan, energy efficiency is also a key focus for the government.
"Over the past five years, rapid development has been recorded in the solar energy sector. The strategy stipulates that photovoltaic stations with a capacity of approximately 1,000 megawatts should be built in Armenia by 2030. “It’s 2025 and we have already achieved this target,” he emphasized.
