Approximately 75 billion drams are planned to be allocated annually to increase pensions and benefits in Armenia, announced Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan.
YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. Approximately 75 billion drams are planned to be allocated annually to increase pensions and benefits in Armenia, announced Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan.
"In order to increase old-age pensions and disability benefits by 10,000 drams, (the authorities) will allocate additional funding of approximately 75 billion drams annually. This will affect more than 660,000 people," Papoyan wrote on his Facebook page.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the pension increase by 10,000 drams is planned to begin on April 1, 2026.
About cashback on benefits and pensions
Since July 1, 2022, a cashback program has been available in Armenia for pensioners and benefit recipients for cashless payments for purchases and utilities. By government decision, the program has been extended until December 31, 2026.
Initially, the cashback was 10% of the monthly amount spent (up to a maximum of 5,000 drams per month), later increasing to 12% (up to a maximum of 6,000 drams). Effective January 1, 2026, the cashback amount has been increased to 20% (up to a maximum of 10,000 drams). Payments are made by the 25th of the month following the reporting month. ($1 = 376.92 drams).
