YEREVAN, September 19. /ARКА/. The development of inter-regional transport and logistics infrastructure is particularly important for Armenia in relation to the execution of the Crossroads of Peace project, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said at the 11th session of the Armenian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

During the meeting, which took place remotely on Friday, Grigoryan highlighted the importance of fostering relations with Kazakhstan, particularly within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, and pointed out the considerable untapped potential for trade and economic collaboration.

The Deputy Prime Minister specifically underscored the importance of cooperation in the transport sector.

"The Republic of Armenia endorses the initiative to establish a multimodal transport route along the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Armenia corridor. Simultaneous freight transport is already in progress along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Armenia route, indicating a rising interest in enhancing transport and logistics connections between our nations," Grigoryan remarked, as reported by the Armenian government press service.

The Deputy Prime Minister is optimistic that these shipments could become a regular occurrence, particularly considering the potential interest from Armenian entrepreneurs in the opportunities presented by the Khorgos International Border Cooperation Center located on the Kazakh-Chinese border.

Grigoryan expressed his belief that Armenia and Kazakhstan will persist in fortifying their partnership, founded on trust, respect, and friendship between the peoples of both nations.

Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and his Kazakh counterpart Serik Zhumangarin signed a protocol that addresses current issues on the bilateral agenda, which includes cooperation in trade and economics, high technology, transport, tourism, healthcare, and education.-0-
