YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Armenia's economic growth is expected to reach 5.4% in 2026, stated RA Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.
"GDP will almost reach 12 trillion drams, exceeding our preliminary forecasts. Even the IMF has raised its forecast for Armenia's economic growth, expecting 5.5% growth in 2026," Hovhannisyan noted during a discussion of the 2026 draft state budget in parliament on Wednesday.
The Finance Minister reported that economic growth averaged 7.6% in 2021-2026.
"Armenia's budget must be flexible and able to quickly respond to a rapidly changing world. "This is our government's consolidated five-year budget, full of challenges, with a logical conclusion to the five-year journey," Hovhannisyan said.
He also stated that in the past, when artificial intelligence was discussed as a phenomenon of the future, today it is already changing the nature of the world and even the structure of economies.
"Even in favorable periods, it is necessary to be prepared for possible risks, maintaining fiscal stability, reducing the deficit, and developing the economy's potential at an advanced pace," Hovhannisyan noted.
According to the Armenian State Statistics Service, Armenia's GDP for the second quarter of 2025, according to preliminary data, registered growth of 5.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
The World Bank forecast for Armenian economic growth in 2026 is 4.9%; the IMF forecast is 5.5%. ($1 = 382.52 drams)
