YEREVAN, May 15. /ARKA/. Armenia's first large industrial solar power plant "Masrik-1" has been commissioned. It is located in the Mets Masrik community of Gegharkunik region.

At its meeting on May 14, 2025, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia granted FRV Masrik CJSC a license for the production of electricity (capacity) for a period of 20 years and set the tariff for the sold electricity at 16.3 drams/kWh (excluding VAT).

The design capacity of the plant is 55 MW, the annual electricity generation is about 24 million kWh.

"The launch of the Masrik-1 station is not only an important contribution to the energy sector of Armenia, but also a key component in the development of renewable and clean energy in Armenia," the PSRC said.

It was previously reported that the Masrik-1 solar station project is being implemented by FRV Masrik with funding from Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV, member Abdul Latif Jameel), and the Armenian government is also participating in the project.

Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the RA PSRC, announced in parliament on May 14 that as of the end of 2024, 72 solar stations were operating in Armenia, and 47 more are under construction. With the commissioning of the solar stations under construction, their total capacity will reach 577 MW.

Mesropyan explained that the above data concerns licensed electricity producers, and not photovoltaic (solar) panels installed on the roofs of houses.
