YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. The volume of Armenia's foreign and mutual trade turnover in January-April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 decreased by 52.9% and amounted to $6,277,816.2 thousand, according to the website of the National Statistical Service of the Republic.

At the same time, in April 2025, this figure amounted to $1,764.8 million, decreasing by 50.1% compared to April 2024, and increasing by 4.5% compared to March 2025.

It should be noted that Armenia's foreign trade turnover began to slow down in July last year. Thus, if in the first half of 2024, Armenia's foreign trade turnover increased by 2 times in annual terms, then for the whole of 2024, compared to 2023, the growth was 41.5%. And since January of this year, a decline has begun to be recorded: in January of this year - by 40% compared to January 2024, in January-February - by 52% in annual terms, and in the first quarter - by 54.2%.

Foreign trade turnover

Foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries for the four months of this year amounted to $ 2,355,188.1 thousand, decreasing by 60.9% compared to January-April last year, including with the EAEU - $ 2,296,957.6 thousand (a decline of 61.5%). Armenia's largest foreign trade partners are Russia (trade turnover for the first 4 months of this year was $2,203,221.1 thousand, a 62.5% decline compared to the first 4 months of last year), Belarus ($65,001.1 thousand, a 10.5% increase) and Ukraine ($32,693.6 thousand, a 2.9% increase). The volume of Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EU countries for the reporting period amounted to $729,348.3 thousand, an increase of 4.8%. The top five largest trading partners of the republic among European countries include Germany ($140,028.7 thousand, a decline of 5.4%), Italy ($126,826.5 thousand, a decline of 0.2%), France ($64,482.9 thousand, an increase of 53.7%), the Netherlands ($59,322.9 thousand, an increase of 30.7%) and Belgium ($44,514.1 thousand, a decline of 23.6%). Among other countries in terms of trade turnover with Armenia in January-April 2025, the following stand out: China ($765,570.2 thousand, a decline of 26.1%), the UAE ($729,489.9 thousand, a decline of 74.4%), Iran ($222,679.2 thousand, an increase of 9.9%), the USA ($122,978.4 thousand, a decline of 14.6%), Iraq ($100,992.2 thousand, an increase of 93.8%), Georgia ($86,095.7 thousand, an increase of 7.5%), Switzerland ($56,801.6 thousand, an increase of 2.5%) and the Republic of Korea ($49,752.4 thousand, an increase of 16.4%).

Export

According to statistics, exports from Armenia in January-April 2025 decreased by 60.4% compared to January-April 2024, amounting to $2,420,420.4 thousand. In April 2025, this figure amounted to $711.5 million, decreasing by 57.3% compared to April 2024, and increasing by 9.9% compared to March 2025.

The volume of exports from Armenia to the CIS countries for the reporting period of 2025 amounted to $979,000.3 thousand, decreasing by 5.4% compared to the same period last year, including to the EAEU - $960,694.5 thousand (a decline of 5.8%). The top three countries by export volume are Russia ($891,376.2 thousand, down 6.8%), Belarus ($45,544.1 thousand, up 27.1%) and Kazakhstan ($21,539.4 thousand, up 5.8%).

The volume of exports to the EU countries for the first four months of 2025 decreased by 1.2% compared to the first four months of 2024, amounting to $180,430.0 thousand. The top three countries by export volume are the Netherlands ($36,763.4 thousand, up 28.5%), Germany ($35,248.7 thousand, up 69.8%) and Bulgaria ($26,950.4 thousand, down 33.1%). Other countries with the largest export volumes from Armenia include the UAE ($702,605.4 thousand, a decline of 75.2%), China ($156,803.3 thousand, a decline of 73.4%), Iraq ($100,819.8 thousand, an increase of 93.7%), Georgia ($50,658.8 thousand, an increase of 11.1%), Switzerland ($46,261.5 thousand, an increase of 40.9%), Iran ($31,736.5 thousand, a decline of 8.6%) and the United States ($18,811.9 thousand, an increase of 8.1%). According to statistics, the most significant export items in the reporting period were presented in the following commodity groups: "precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and products made of them" - $ 863,259.1 thousand (a decline of 81.2% compared to January-April 2024), "machinery, equipment and mechanisms" - $ 402,586.7 thousand (a decline of 5%), "finished products of the food industry" - $ 348,628.2 thousand (an increase of 34.8%), "mining industry" - $ 307,447.7 thousand (a decline of 1.4%), "textiles and products made of them" - $ 94,862.1 thousand (a decline of 28.3%), "base metals and products made of them" - $ 83,169.0 thousand (a decline of 19.1%), "products of plant origin" - $79,232.5 thousand (an increase of 43%) and "devices and apparatus" - $60,410.0 thousand (an increase of 11%),

According to statistics, the volume of imports to Armenia in January-April 2025 amounted to $3,857,395.8 thousand, recording a decline of 46.5% compared to January-April 2024. In April 2025, this figure amounted to $1,031.3 million, decreasing by 43.8% compared to April 2024, and increasing by 1.2% compared to March of the same year.

The volume of imports from the EU by exporting countries for the four months of the current year increased by 1.6% compared to the four months of last year, amounting to $624,473.7 thousand, and by producing countries the growth was 6.9% to $548,918.3 thousand. The top three exporting countries are Germany ($118,033.0 thousand, a decline of 12.4%), Italy ($116,687.1 thousand, an increase of 19.1%) and the Netherlands ($55,779.3 thousand, a decline of 14.6%). The leaders in producing countries are Italy ($110,973.7 thousand, an increase of 4%), Germany ($104,780.0 thousand, a decline of 17.6%) and France ($62,561.6 thousand, an increase of 56.9%). Other countries with the highest import volumes in terms of exporting countries include China ($436,805.2 thousand, up 60.2%), Georgia ($223,784.9 thousand, up 1.5%), Iran ($194,561.9 thousand, up 14.1%), the UAE ($127,109.2 thousand, down 20.1%) and the United States ($125,318.7 thousand, down 7.3%).

The top five producers by country are China ($608,766.9 thousand, up 36.2%), Iran ($190,942.7 thousand, up 13.7%), the United States ($104,166.5 thousand, down 17.7%), the Republic of Korea ($43,763.0 thousand, up 26.2%) and Georgia ($35,436.9 thousand, up 2.7%). At the same time, according to official statistics, for January-April 2025, the prevailing imports were in the following commodity groups: "machinery, equipment and mechanisms" - $ 804,748.6 thousand (an increase of 0.1%), "precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and products made of them" - $ 740,396.0 thousand (a decrease of 82.9%), "mining industry" - $ 392,341.8 thousand (an increase of 4.4%), "land, air and water transport vehicles" - $ 372,128.7 thousand (an increase of 41%), "finished products of the food industry" - $ 235,152.5 thousand (an increase of 31.4%), "products of the chemical and related industries" - $ 193,889.3 thousand (a decrease of 11.3%), "base metals and articles thereof" - $184,530.5 thousand (an increase of 18.4%), "textiles and articles thereof" - $183,257.1 thousand (a decrease of 15.6%). -0-
