YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. The RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs stated that an employee's absence from work due to circumstances beyond their control (force majeure) related to difficulties returning to Armenia amid the situation in the Middle East cannot violate their labor rights.

"Employers are obliged to consider an employee's absence due to circumstances beyond their control as a valid reason and also consider the possibility of extending leave or organizing remote work," the ministry's statement reads.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also stated that issues raised by Armenian citizens through the country's diplomatic missions abroad are being addressed jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Should additional questions arise, RA citizens may contact the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The previous day, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was discussing with the Armenian government the issue of recognizing as valid absences from work by Armenian citizens who were forced to remain in the UAE due to flight cancellations or delays related to the escalation in the Middle East.

Armenian citizens who contacted the Armenian Embassy in the UAE raised the issue of their absence from work due to their inability to return home on time. They are requesting assistance to ensure that employers do not consider these absences unexcused and that their wages are maintained for the days of absence.
