Armenia to expand pilot program for subsidizing community projects

YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has decided to expand the pilot program for subsidizing community projects.

The number of communities participating in the program will increase from 4 to 21. As Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan noted during a government meeting, the decision was made to include communities that were able to implement certain projects on their own in 2024, without state assistance.

The minister reminded that under the pilot program launched in 2024, citizens could propose initiatives to implement projects. If approved by community residents, the project would be implemented using community funds, with subsidies from the government.

Hovhannisyan mentioned that under this program, the community must allocate at least 20% of the funding, and the total cost of the project cannot exceed 1 billion drams. Citizens' initiatives are published on a special platform, where community residents vote on whether to approve or reject the project. The state allocated 443 million drams for the projects of the 4 communities that participated in the pilot program. ($1 = 395.72 drams)
