YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. The Armenian government plans to provide state support in 2026 to airlines that will operate flights to new destinations at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport and Gyumri's Shirak Airport. This was announced by RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan during a parliamentary discussion of the 2026 budget.

According to him, the country's state budget has allocated subsidies totaling 3.6 billion drams (approximately $9.4 million) for these purposes.

Khudatyan clarified that this applies to airlines that will be based at Zvartnots and/or Shirak airports during this period.

"Airlines will be able to receive subsidies of 20,000 drams for each passenger over two years old transported to Zvartnots Airport, and 15,000 drams for each passenger transported to Shirak Airport," Khudatyan noted.

The minister emphasized that the program is available to all airlines that meet the requirements.

He also noted that Wizz Air (Hungary), one of the world's leading low-cost carriers, recently opened a base at Zvartnots Airport.
