Armenia and Belarus determined to expand their economic cooperation
YEREVAN, April 22. / ARKA /. Armenia and Belarus are determined to expand their economic cooperation, Armenian foreign ministry reported following a meeting of Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian and Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.

Lukashenko was quoted as saying that relations between the two countries are warm, friendly and practical. According to him, although the bilateral trade is not very big, the growth rate is satisfactory due to a considerable work done to strengthen and expand economic ties.

"We can not boast of having huge trade turnover. Perhaps, we will never reach that goal, but given that some time ago it was at zero level we have today big progress. And I see how Armenia is trying to buy more Belarusian goods. We also buy in Armenia what we do not manufacture in our country," he said.

"We always welcome Armenian investors in Belarus. Armenia is our friend, partner, a country with which we will continue to forge closer relations," he said.

In turn, Edward Nalbandian said Lukashenko’s last year’s visit to Armenia have become an important stimulus for further development of bilateral relations.

According to official figures, last year the bilateral trade surged by almost 23 % growth to about $50 million.-0-
