Armenia and Georgia intend to deepen cooperation in agriculture

Georgia and Armenia intend to deepen cooperation in the field of agriculture by using this sector’s export potential, the press service of the Armenian ministry of agriculture said today following a meeting of minister Sergo Karapetyan with his Georgian counterpart Otar Danelia.

YEREVAN, July 7. / ARKA /. Georgia and Armenia intend to deepen cooperation in the field of agriculture by using this sector’s export potential, the press service of the Armenian ministry of agriculture said today following a meeting of minister Sergo Karapetyan with his Georgian counterpart Otar Danelia.

According to Karapetyan, Georgians are interested in the production of canned food, cooperation with local fish farms, studying the experience of animal farming and the possibility of exporting  this experience to their own country.

"We, as neighbors, can learn a lot from each other in the field of agriculture, and this visit is particularly important in terms of sharing experiences and building partnerships", Karapetyan was quoted as saying in a press release. He said he plans to visit Georgia for a return visit.

In turn, minister Danelia praised Armenia’s agricultural sector saying this was his first official visit to Armenia and that he was impressed with the level of Armenian agricultural development. 

‘I am sure that we can help each other in many questions and share experience,’ he said.

The trade turnover between Armenia and Georgia in the first five months of 2015 dropped by 1.2% year-on-year to $ 57.7 million.-0-
