Armenia and USA to expand cooperation in customs area

YEREVAN, February 22. /ARKA/. Armenia is ready to expand cooperation with the U.S. in the customs area, Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) Chairman Rustam Badasyan said at a meeting with the Regional Director of the U.S. Export Control and Related Border Security Assistance Program (EXBS) and representatives of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (USCBP) in Yerevan.
According to the SRC press service, Badasyan presented the key directions of comprehensive reforms in the customs area, including the SRC's vision of "electronic contacts" between customs authorities and business entities.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation within the EXBS program to create a "smart" risk management system.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the modernization of the risk management system in the customs sphere, implementation and development of electronic automated systems, which will enable customs officers to carry out more targeted customs control.
An agreement was reached on the planned visit of the SRC's representatives to the USA in order to study the best practices of the USA and to actively involve the border control authorities in the processes of integrated border management.
The importance of organizing training courses for the Armenian customs officers and exchange of experience was also noted. --0--
