Armenia capable of overcoming major negative shocks without macroeconomic turmoils
YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Armenia is capable of overcoming major negative shocks without facing macroeconomic turmoils, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Armen Nurbekyan said at Amundi-Acba 2023 economic forum held in Yerevan on January 31.
He stressed that at the beginning of 2021, when Armenia was recovering from a big shock and the country was going through political processes, it placed government eurobonds at record-low prices on international markets.
"The main message from investors to us was that they understand that macroeconomic policy of the country stood on firm institutional grounds, and hence there was no problem in investing in the country," he said.
Armenia's economic activity in 2022 was up 14.2% as opposed to the previous year, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
It said the economic activity surged by 21.5% in December 2022 compared to November, and by 12.8% compared to December 2021. -0-
