Armenia closes 2016 with 1.4 percent deflation

Consumer prices in Armenia last year decreased by 1.4%, when compared to 2015, the National Statistical Service (NSS) said today.
YEREVAN, January 11. / ARKA /. Consumer prices in Armenia last year decreased by 1.4%, when compared to 2015, the National Statistical Service (NSS) said today. According to NSS, food prices (including alcoholic beverages and cigarettes) decreased by 3%, non-food products fell by 2.5%, while services rose by 1.8%.
According to statistics, in 2016 December consumer prices were up 1.1% from November, triggered largely by a 3.1% drop in the prices of foods.
It should be noted that deflation gave way to inflation in September. In particular, after seven months of deflation prices in September rose by 0.1%. The government’s projection of inflation for 2016 was 4% (± 1.5%). -0-
