Armenia has not appointed trade representatives to WTO and some countries

YEREVAN, 31 May. /ARKA/. Armenia will not appoint representatives to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), as well as trade attaches in foreign countries, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said on Friday.
According to him, AMD 310.7 million was envisaged in Armenia's 2023 budget for the maintenance of trade representatives in the WTO and some countries. According to him, the budget was adjusted downward to 62.5 million drams.
There were no appointments and the actual execution (of the budget) was 60.6 million drams,’ he said, explaining that the problem is that there is a big difference between the requirements made to the applicants and the salaries paid to them.
Papoyan noted that the ministry is unable to pay specialists it would like to have as trade attaches abroad.
And people who would like to work for that amount of money do not want to be appointed as trade attachés. In other words, there is a big mismatch between our desires and our capabilities,’ he said.
However, the minister noted that this is the case for many vacant positions in the ministry. -0-
