Armenia, Iran intend to embark on oil pipeline and railway construction in 2012

Armenian and Iranian presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, instructed the two countries’ ministers to embark on implementation of the strategic programs implying construction of an oil pipeline, a railway and a hydro power plant on Arax River in 2012.

YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. Armenian and Iranian presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, instructed the two countries’ ministers to embark on implementation of the strategic programs implying construction of an oil pipeline, a railway and a hydro power plant on Arax River in 2012.
 
Ahmadinejad arrived today in Yerevan for an official visit.
 
The presidents expressed satisfaction at the ongoing expansion of cooperation in energy area, as the Armenian president’s press office reports.
 
They also pointed out the necessity to start the construction of the third power transmission line as soon as possible and to create favorable environment for development of business ties.
 
Some intergovernmental agreements were signed as part of the visit.
 
An agreements on Iran’s support for Armenia’s development, a protocol on changes to the intergovernmental agreement on construction of a hydro power plant on Arax River, a memorandum on cooperation in social and labor areas, a program of cooperation in nature protection area for 1012 and 1013 and a memorandum on cooperation between the two countries’ standard institutes were among them.
 
The presidents also spoke about the necessity to build up trade turnover between the countries. -0—
