Armenia has every opportunity to become a financial bridge between the Eurasian Economic Union member countries and the West, Ameria Group Development Director Tigran Jrbashyan told ARKA News Agency.
YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenia has every opportunity to become a financial bridge between the Eurasian Economic Union member countries and the West, Ameria Group Development Director Tigran Jrbashyan told ARKA News Agency.
«Today Armenia is ahead of almost all the members of the Eurasian Economic Union in terms of all business development indicators,» he said. «For example, Armenia is included in top 100 among 189 countries in Doing Business ranking and it is also rated positively in Heritage Foundation and has outdone all its fellow union members in developing business doing institutions.»
For historical reasons, he said, Armenia runs diversified businesses - the country has business ties with, Europe, the United States and other countries.
Jrbashyan said that Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union gave the country significant customs preferences in addition to the European Union GSP+ preferential regime Armenia already enjoyed at the moment of the accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
Thanks to this, more than 6,000 varieties of Armenia-made goods are exported to the Eurasian Economic union countries at a zero customs duty rate.
«Taking into account the above mentioned arguments, we can say for sure that Armenia has every opportunity to become a bridge between the Eurasian Economic Union and the West, but the question is how to put this scenario into practice,» Jrbashyan said.
In Doing Business-2015, Armenia is placed at 45th position, while Belarus is ranked 57th, Russia 62nd, Kazakhstan 77th and Kyrgyzstan 102nd.
In Heritage Foundation's The Index of Economic Freedom ranking, Armenia came 52nd among 178 countries, Kazakhstan 69th, Kyrgyzstan 82nd, Russia 143rd and Belarus 153rd. ---0----
