Armenia's agriculture sector to enjoy growth in 2020 - economy minister

Economic activity in the agricultural sector of Armenia is expected to increase by the end of 2020 due to the rich harverst of grapes, statistics on which will be summarized at the end of the year, Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan said Friday during the 2021 government budget hearings in the National Assembly's standing commissions.

YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Economic activity in the agricultural sector of Armenia is expected to increase by the end of 2020 due to the rich harverst of grapes, statistics on which will be summarized at the end of the year, Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan said Friday during the 2021 government budget hearings in the National Assembly's standing commissions.

The minister said that the grape yield this year, according to various estimates, is at least 25-30% bigger than that of the previous year.

"It is important to note that despite many difficulties, we have a positive spectrum of economic activity in the agricultural sector," he said.

In the field of agriculture, for the first nine months of this year, the output amounted to 555,211.4 million drams, an increase of 0.5% compared to January-September 2019.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the indicator of economic activity in Armenia, according to preliminary data, in January-September 2020 shed 6.6% compared to the same period in 2019 ($ 1 – AMD 493.87). -0-
